ST. ANTHONY’S INDUSTRIES GROUP
Q: How important is innovation to St. Anthony’s Industries Group?
A: Innovation is our life force, driving our ‘Massive Transformative Purpose’ of ‘transforming the building industry’ since our establishment in 1958. As a pioneer in the PVC sector, we introduced revolutionary products such as moulded fittings, sewerage fittings, square gutters and fittings, and blow moulded water storage tanks.
Committed to pushing industry limits, we achieved milestones, becoming the first local manufacturer in Sri Lanka to attain ISO 9001:2000 certification for uPVC pipes and fittings manufacturing. Our dedication to quality and innovation is evident through our various certifications.
Looking forward, our vision is to sustain this innovative edge, ensuring we remain a pivotal force in shaping the future of the building industry.
Q: What are some recent innovative projects that the group has undertaken?
A: Exciting developments are underway at St. Anthony’s and we’re proud to introduce groundbreaking innovations in the building industry.
The spotlight shines on the Armor uPVC roofing sheets, featuring a unique traditional ulu design for both aesthetic charm and robust weather resistance. With a triple layer construction, these sheets withstand the elements and excel in temperature control, ensuring a comfortable home environment.
With Anton uPVC doors and windows, we stand out as the sole local profile manufacturer, providing a full suite of services. Our doors and windows boast a 10 year warranty, coupled with expert installation and delivery by experienced technical teams.
We’ve also extended our innovation to include Armor gutters, made from the same durable uPVC materials. Available in white and amber brown, these gutters are not only visually appealing but also boast colour fastness, fire-retardant features and easy installation. What sets them apart is the moulded technology accessories, adding an extra layer of uniqueness.
There are also the Griffin foam boards, locally manufactured with features such as termite proofing, a ‘V-0’ fire rating, excellent fastening, recyclability, water resistance, lightweight design, eco-friendliness and cost-effectiveness. These endeavours reflect our dedication to making construction safer, more stylish and customer focussed.
Q: How does St. Anthony’s identify and prioritise opportunities for innovation?
A: To us, innovation isn’t simply a concept – it’s a comprehensive approach. We actively engage in market research and ongoing conversations with key stakeholders, adapting to their evolving needs. Embracing cutting-edge technology and materials, we proactively address challenges in the building industry.
Fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration, our team explores unique ideas, ensuring agility and responsiveness in delivering innovations. Beyond that, we identify global trends and consistently introduce them to the local market.
Our recent offerings – like the Armor uPVC roofing sheets and gutters, uPVC doors and windows, and Griffin foam boards – reflect this dedication, aligning with industry trends and customer demands.
Q: What role does leadership play in driving and supporting innovation within the group?
A: Leadership at St. Anthony’s is deeply rooted in innovation. Our founder, the late Deshamanya A. Y. S. Gnanam laid the groundwork for groundbreaking ideas. This commitment seamlessly passed on to the second and third generations, creating a dynamic legacy of inventive solutions.
Leaders support innovative initiatives, providing resources and mentorship. They encourage employees to explore new ideas, creating an environment that values innovative mindsets. This freedom extends company wide, ensuring that every team member contributes to a culture of change and excellence regardless of position.
Leadership contributes to the evolving narrative, propelling the organisation forward as a pioneer in shaping the future of the building industry.
