SLIIT Concludes Season 4 of ‘Brain Busters with SLIIT’ TV Programme, Showcasing Exceptional Talent and Knowledge
SLIIT is excited to announce the successful conclusion of ‘Brain Busters with SLIIT’ Season 4, one of Sri Lanka’s premier TV quiz competitions, designed to inspire and challenge the brightest young minds across the nation. The highly anticipated Grand Finale, recorded at Stein Studios, Ratmalana, and aired on TV1 Channel every Saturday from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm, was a testament to the incredible knowledge, skill, and teamwork demonstrated by all competing schools.
In an intense and thrilling contest, Richmond College, Galle emerged as the Champion, securing the coveted Champions Trophy along with a cash prize of Rs. 300,000/, for their school. Team members Manuka Rison and Rupasinghe Vihanga Thathsara displayed exceptional intellect and collaboration, earning them the top prize.
Royal College, Colombo, claimed the 1st Runners-Up position. Team members Kalya Mettananda and Virula Liyanage received a cash prize of Rs. 150,000/ for their outstanding performance, which was handed over to their school leadership.
In third place, Mahinda Rajapaksa College, Matara secured the 2nd Runners-Up title, with participants Amayuru Shenal Patabendi and Sasindu Sathmal awarded a cash prize of Rs. 75,000/. The prize was presented to their school’s leadership.
These finalists were selected from over 5,000 students who participated in the preliminary rounds held across schools nationwide. The highest-scoring students from 27 schools were chosen for the TV rounds, with two-member teams representing each school. All 54 students who reached the TV rounds received cash prizes based on their scores, ensuring that every participant was celebrated as a winner. Furthermore, 5,000 participants received participation certificates, and the top-scoring students from each school were awarded valuable books. Teachers in charge were also appreciated for their hard work and dedication, receiving special gifts in recognition of their efforts.
The Champions awards were presented by Prof. Lalith Gamage, Vice Chancellor of SLIIT, Prof. Lakshman Ratnayake, Chancellor/Chairman of SLIIT, and Prof. Samantha Thelijjagoda, Pro Vice Chancellor (Research & International), alongside SLIIT’s senior management. The event was attended by school principals, Vice principals, teachers and students, who joined in celebrating the remarkable achievements of the winning teams.
The Grand Finale was judged by a distinguished panel of experts, including: Prof. Ruwan Jayathilaka, Head- Department of Information Management, SLIIT Business School, Ms. Asangi Jayasinghe, Director of Research & International Relations/ Project Chair of Brain Busters with SLIIT, and Ms. M.A.T.C. Mudannayake, Deputy Director, Ministry of Education, Sri Lanka.
During the awards ceremony, Prof. Lalith Gamage, Vice Chancellor of SLIIT, delivered an inspiring speech while presenting the Champions Trophy. He shared his personal journey from being a student to becoming an academic leader and the founder of world-renowned university. He emphasized the importance of confidence, resilience, and self-belief in achieving success.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the dedicated teachers and school principals whose invaluable guidance and support played a significant role in the success of the participating teams.
‘Brain Busters with SLIIT’ was initiated in 2018 by Asangi Jayasinghe, Director of Research & International Relations at SLIIT and Project Chair of ‘Brain Busters with SLIIT’, with the vision to enhance students’ knowledge and inspire them to become future leaders. She said, “This programme is more than just a quiz—it combines motivational sessions that encourage students to be the best version of themselves and succeed in their chosen careers.” Over the years, the programme has grown into a key component of SLIIT’s corporate social responsibility, dedicated to uplifting the knowledge and confidence of Sri Lankan students. The competition also highlights Sri Lankan success stories on global platforms, inspiring participants to reach greater heights.
The preliminary rounds in schools not only test knowledge but also include motivational and entrepreneurial sessions, Motivational sessions during the TV rounds are conducted by eminent professors of SLIIT, to help students grow and become the best versions of themselves.
