Q: Can you give us an overview of the organisation and its core offerings?

A: Sakura Power Solutions – despite its Japanese-oriented name – is a 100 percent Sri Lankan-owned company dedicated to providing high quality, reliable solar solutions for the country’s industrial and commercial sectors. Our focus on transparency, customer satisfaction and after sales service has made us a trusted name in the renewable energy sector.

A key challenge in Sri Lanka’s solar market is ensuring module quality as the country lacks testing facilities for imported panels. We stand apart by guaranteeing the highest energy generation rates – 130 kWh for each kW installed – compared to the market standard of 110-115 kWh.

To reinforce confidence, we offer an industry first money back guarantee – if output falls below 90 percent of the assured level over a year, we discuss compensation with clients. This assurance enhances investment feasibility for businesses seeking financing.

For the first five years, we provide free servicing and maintenance – ensuring customers can confidently calculate their ROI. Our team actively monitors systems three times daily, taking full responsibility if performance falls short (excluding uncontrollable factors). While many claim 24/7 support, we prioritise exceptional service during operational hours.

From a small team of five, we have grown to 50 permanent employees specialising in industrial and commercial solar projects. Securing large-scale contracts, which can take up to nine months and involve investments of Rs. 225 million, requires navigating multiple approval levels. Despite being a smaller sectoral player, we have built a reputation for delivering on promises with quality, reliability and unmatched after sales support.

Q: Tell us about the introduction of Leapton solar modules…

A: A key highlight this year is that we have secured exclusive distribution rights for a solar modules brand called Leapton. Leapton is a 100 percent Japanese origin brand, manufactured in China and it falls under the tier one category of solar panels. To put it in perspective, solar modules are categorised into different tiers – one, two and three – and within tier one, Leapton is the only Japanese brand.

We now hold exclusive distribution rights for Leapton in both Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and we’re officially launching the product this month. Our focus remains on industrial and commercial sectors, particularly resorts and hotels in the Maldivian market.

This initiative is not only about distribution but also educating industrial and commercial business owners on the benefits of renewable energy – not only as a long-term investment but also for sustainability and green certification purposes.

As the authorised distributor of Leapton, we uphold stringent quality controls, mitigating risks including fire hazards. Direct dealings with Leapton’s headquarters guarantee authenticity and top tier product quality. By integrating premium components with meticulous installation, we ensure long-term performance, safety and efficiency.

Q: How do you ensure reliable after sales service and maintenance support for your customers?

A: Sakura Power Solutions stands out in a sector where many companies enter the market only to disappear within months, leaving customers without after sales support. Unlike others, we focus on industrial and commercial sectors, ensuring long-term reliability. Over the past five years, we have had zero complaints – with export-oriented clients valuing our exceptional service.

Our in-house team, trained by industry experts, handles all maintenance, ensuring top tier standards. Through exclusive partnerships, we send staff to China to observe solar panel manufacturing and identify key improvements. We are also launching international training programmes for inverters to enhance technical expertise.

To prevent common issues such as roof leaks, we use high-grade fibre reinforcement instead of shrink prone silicone. Our imported chemical sealant, backed by a 15 year guarantee, ensures lasting protection. While some prioritise cost, we emphasise durability, offering 20 year agreements for reliability and maintenance.

Q: How does Sakura Power Solutions ensure energy efficiency and reliability for its clients?

A: We prioritise energy efficiency and reliability by leveraging advanced technology and industry best practices. A key innovation is our simulation software, which plays a crucial role in ensuring optimal solar energy generation.

Prior to installing a solar system, we input the GPS location of the site into our simulation software. This software analyses multiple factors including panel efficiency, environmental conditions, and shading and weather patterns.

Using these insights, the system predicts the expected energy output with high accuracy. For example, if the simulation determines that a location can generate 140 units for each kilowatt, we provide customers with a guaranteed output of 135 units a kilowatt.

We go a step further by offering a 90 percent money back guarantee on the promised energy output. This means that if the system generates less than 90 percent of the guaranteed output, we compensate our customers accordingly. In addition, we provide a personal guarantee for the money back assurance, ensuring complete peace of mind.

This commitment to efficiency, reliability and customer satisfaction sets us apart in the renewable energy sector.
