Veteran banker Aravinda Perera assumes duties as Chairman of Pan Asia Bank; heartily felicitated by the Association of Professionals Bankers (APB)
The Truly Sri Lankan Bank, Pan Asia Bank, welcomed respected banker and business leader, Mr. Aravinda Perera ceremoniously, on the first day in his role of Chairman of Pan Asia Bank on 11th August 2023. Mr. Aravinda Perera is expected to lead the bank to the next phase of growth. On the occasion, Director/CEO Mr. Naleen Edirisinghe along with the Corporate Management joined for a simple yet elegant welcoming ceremony which was held at the headquarters of the Bank. Addressing the gathering, the incoming Chairman stated that he along with the Deputy Chairman looks forward to laying out the strategic direction for the bank to make it ‘future ready’. He also thanked the outgoing chairman, Mr. Jayantha Rangamuwa, for his contribution during his tenure.
The Association of Professional Bankers (APB) also felicitated its former President Mr Aravinda Perera on this occasion for ascending to the highest office as Chairman of Pan Asia Bank. The recognition from APB is a testimonial to Mr. Aravinda Perera’s notable contribution to the banking sector as a long-time member of APB, while underscoring his visionary leadership.
A veteran in the banking industry, Mr. Aravinda Perera has garnered valuable expertise as the Managing Director of Sampath Bank PLC from 1st January 2012 until his retirement in September 2016. Mr. Perera is also presently the Managing Director of Royal Ceramics Lanka PLC and Chairman of Singer Finance (Lanka) PLC, and a Director of Hayleys PLC, Hayleys Aventura (Private) Ltd., Fentons Ltd and Hayleys Advantis Ltd. He is also a former Governing Board Member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and Past President of Association of Professional Bankers, Sri Lanka. He is a Member of the Institute of Engineers of Sri Lanka (MIESL) and a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.). He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) (FCMA) and a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers – Sri Lanka (FIB). During his illustrious career, Mr. Perera has won many accolades, including ‘CEO Leadership Achievement Award 2016’ by the Asian Banker and the prestigious ‘Platinum Honours – 2014’ award by the Postgraduate Institute of Management Alumni (PIMA) of Sri Jayewardenapura University. He was also honoured with the ‘Award for the Outstanding Contribution to the Banking Industry – 2015’ by the Association of Professional Bankers and awarded an Honorary Life Membership by the Association of Professional Bankers in October 2018.
