NSBM GREEN UNIVERSITY
Inspired by the vision of being Sri Lanka’s ‘best-performing Graduate School, recognised internationally,’ the NSBM Green University has introduced its first PhD programme in the field of management.
Located in Homagama on 40 acres of land with facilities on a par with international standards, NSBM is a self-financed government owned higher education institution.
Its portfolio of study programmes includes a range of its own undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, which are recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Ministry of Higher Education, as well as international programmes conducted in affiliation with top ranked universities such as the University of Plymouth – UK and Victoria University in Australia.
With the introduction of the PhD in management, NSBM is taking its existing portfolio of study programmes to new heights, thereby marking another milestone in its remarkable journey.
The doctoral programme at NSBM is well-crafted to suit the modern world requirements of knowledge creation. It is structured cohesively in a manner that enables candidates to absorb the knowledge required to successfully move through different stages of the programme.
Initially, an introductory workshop will be carried out with the aim of preparing candidates for doctoral study. Thereafter, during the first semester, core modules will be delivered with a focus on systematic development of the necessary research skills to proceed to their intended field of study.
Thereafter, candidates will have an opportunity to work closely with an appointed supervisor who would be an expert in the selected field of study. The supervision process is closely governed by the university in ensuring impactful and high quality PhD dissertations within the stipulated time frame.
Throughout the intensive three year PhD programme, candidates are driven to acquire and share new knowledge for the benefit of the larger community. This is facilitated by a resourceful faculty with a core team of academics from both local and international scholarly communities – they offer an ideal balance of unique experiences and global exposure for candidates.
In addition to the core team of academics, the supervisory panel consists of a pool of globally renowned scholars who possess a wealth of experience in research and consultancy.
Academic administration of the programme will be carried out by the doctoral coordination team. The team is responsible for establishing and implementing proper methodological procedures in selecting ideal candidates to be a part of the NSBM doctoral programme.
The selected candidates will be provided with the required administrative support throughout the programme in a timely manner. Benefiting from the streamlined academic administration procedure, candidates may proceed with their academic and research work to successfully complete the doctoral study.
