Tuesday, September 10th, 2024, Colombo; The Nippon Paint Lanka Painter’s Academy completed it’s six-month long, 8th professional training programme successfully. During the event, the NVQ Level 3 certificate was awarded to fifty painters. The certificate awarding ceremony was held recently at the Nippon Paint Lanka head office in Colombo.

“This training program was conducted in association with the Construction Industry Development Authority (CIDA), said General Manager / Director of Nippon Paint Lanka, Nemantha Abeysinghe. “We launched Nippon Paint Lanka Academy as a CSR project to help develop professional skills among painters in Sri Lanka. The training is designed to raise the standards in the industry and provide our consumers with a higher quality of usage of the technologically advanced paints and coating products that we offer and equip them with the knowledge to deal with customers in a very professional manner. We are very happy that CIDA has collaborated with us to award the NVQ Level 3 qualification following this training.”

Nippon Paint Lanka manufacture and market a range of paints and coatings including decorative paints, industrial coatings, protective coatings, design paints, wood coatings, waterproofing solutions, floor coatings, auto refinishes and car-care products, sealants and adhesives, and tools and accessories.

“Even the best product in the world is useless, unless it is applied properly,” Nippon Paint Lanka, Head of Technical Support, Prabath Jayawardena said. “That is the painter’s job. This training is given by us free of charge and any painter can connect with us to obtain this specialized training. What we give is the technical knowledge to understand the customer requirements, and offer them professional coating solutions, the correct products to be used, and the correct method of application. We show them that they won’t be professional painters simply by using a brush or a roller but with ample technical know-how. They are taught which applications to use, and the procedure and method required. Often, the homeowners or end-users attribute the lack of a finish to a problem with the paint, whereas it is due to the lack of professionalism. We were the first to start such a training programme for painters, but it is not restricted to those who use our products.”

Nemantha Abeysinghe – Director/General Manager – Nippon Paint Lanka

“The training gives them a professional qualification and the opportunity to network and obtain business by word-of-mouth and by the recommendation of a multinational company.
