How the ‘Most Awarded’ entities are ranked
LMD completed its fourth year of research aimed at ranking the ‘Most Awarded’ entities in Sri Lanka. This pioneering analysis is based on the recognition – i.e. by way of awards and accolades – that the country’s leading business establishments have garnered.
Our study involves compiling a list of all parent companies (but not brands) ranked in the most recent Brands Annual (2023) – i.e. parent companies of the most valuable brands – as well as Most Respected (2023) and the LMD 100 (2021/22) special editions.
We collated information pertaining to awards and accolades garnered by these entities in calendar year 2023 – not including those won by subsidiary companies, overseas parent entities of multinationals, individuals representing their organisations, sub-awards hosted by LMD, non-business related awards (e.g. sports), and certifications and standards.
As in past years, the companies that appeared on our preliminary list were invited to submit details of awards and accolades won during the course of 2023, and this information (provided that our deadline of 31 December 2023 was met) was used to ensure that the final rankings of the Most Awarded companies are as accurate and complete as practically possible.
It should be noted that, as some respondents have pointed out, some organisations do not apply for awards whereas others do – and this could potentially favour those who usually apply for awards.
Our research produced a list of 227 award-winning corporate entities (compared to 238 in the previous edition) – for the record, they won a total of 1,734 awards – that have been ranked on the basis of their tally of accolades for the year under review. Seven companies conveyed their decision not to participate in the ranking process.
