LOLC GROUP’S MULTI-SECTOR TRIUMPH AT NBEA 2025

In a commanding display of market leadership and performance, LOLC Holdings cemented its position as Sri Lanka’s most diversified and future focussed conglomerate – with an extraordinary sweep of wins at the National Business Excellence Awards (NBEA) 2025.

Organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), the award ceremony was held at Shangri-La Colombo on 24 July.

On the occasion, the group was bestowed with nine prestigious accolades across five core sectors including one coveted Overall 2nd Runner-up (Bronze) Award – reflecting the strength, scale and strategic agility of its national and global operations.

This year’s NBEA accolades were awarded to seven group entities, showcasing not only sectoral dominance but an integrated approach to innovation, performance and responsible business practices.

LOLC Technologies won the Gold Award in the ICT Services Sector and the Overall 2nd Runner-Up (Bronze) in the Large Category while LOLC Finance was the Runner-Up in the Non-Banking Financial Services Sector and won a Merit Award for Excellence in Capacity Building.

In addition, LOLC Life Assurance received the Runner-Up Insurance Sector prize while LOLC General Insurance won the Merit Award for the Insurance Sector.

Furthermore, Browns was the Runner-Up in the Trading Sector; Browns Hotels and Resorts (Frontier Capital Lanka – Reveal Mirissa Collection) became the Runner-Up in the Hospitality and Tourism Sector; and Browns Hotels and Resorts (Thaala Bentota) won the Merit Award in the Hospitality and Tourism Sector.

These accolades are the result of rigorous evaluation across six key pillars: strategy and leadership; corporate governance and strategy; performance management; local and global market reach; financial results; and environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) integration.

The NBEA remains one of the most respected and comprehensive business award platforms in Sri Lanka with winners selected through a meticulous multi-stage review and interview process led by a distinguished panel of experts.

Reflecting on this milestone achievement, Group Managing Director Kapila Jayawardena stated: “These awards are a collective endorsement of the relentless drive, innovation and resilience that define the LOLC Group. Each win is a tribute to the people behind our businesses, their ambition, their talent and their commitment to excellence. More importantly, these recognitions reflect our larger purpose to create lasting value, uplift industries and shape the future of Sri Lanka’s economy.”

Among the standout performers was LOLC Technologies, which not only emerged as the sector leader in ICT Services but was also named Overall 2nd Runner-Up in the Large Category. This recognition signals a clear shift in Sri Lanka’s digital economy – with LOLC Technologies positioned as a trailblazer in driving enterprise transformation through scalable tech innovation and service excellence.

LOLC Finance also reinforced its leadership in Sri Lanka’s non-banking financial services industry, winning both a sectoral Runner-Up award and a Merit Award for Capacity Building. These recognitions highlight LOLC Finance’s commitment to nurturing talent, improving internal systems and processes, fostering a high-performance culture and empowering employees to drive sustainable growth.

The dual wins in the insurance sector marked another historic moment as LOLC Life Assurance and LOLC General Insurance claimed two of the top three awards – an affirmation of the group’s rising influence in the life and general insurance segments through inclusive, forward-thinking financial protection solutions.

In the trading sector, Browns earned well deserved recognition for its diversified operations across agriculture, engineering, home and office solutions, and plantation industries. This award highlights the company’s adaptability and longstanding impact on national productivity and trade for over one and a half centuries.

Meanwhile, Browns Hotels and Resorts emerged as a key player in the tourism revival narrative with Reveal Mirissa Collection and Thaala Bentota securing wins that spotlight their dedication to sustainable tourism, authentic guest experiences and premium service delivery at globally benchmarked standards.

As LOLC continues to expand its presence locally and internationally, its landmark performance at NBEA 2025 stands as a symbol of its evolving legacy built on leadership, driven by innovation and united by purpose.
