ICC SRI LANKA PARTNERS WITH BIMT CAMPUS TO LAUNCH JAPAN EXECUTIVE IMMERSION PROGRAMME

The International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL) has entered into a strategic partnership with BIMT Campus to provide its members with exclusive access and special benefits for the upcoming Japan Executive Immersion (JEI) Programme. The collaboration was officially announced during a press conference held on February 23, 2026, at the ICCSL Auditorium in Colombo.
Scheduled for May 2026, the Japan Executive Immersion programme is a highly curated eight-day learning journey designed for C-suite executives, senior professionals, and SME entrepreneurs. The programme aims to provide Sri Lankan business leaders with firsthand exposure to the operational excellence of leading Japanese corporations while learning practical strategies that can be implemented within their own organizations.
Participants will gain unique access to some of Japan’s most respected organizations through guided visits and direct engagement with industry leaders. The programme includes exposure to globally recognized companies such as Subaru and Yamato Haneda Chronogate, offering participants valuable insights into advanced manufacturing systems, supply chain management, and operational efficiency.
A key objective of the initiative is to help Sri Lankan businesses adopt globally recognized management approaches such as Kaizen and Lean methodologies, which are widely credited for Japan’s reputation in efficiency, quality control, and continuous improvement.
Speaking at the press conference, ICCSL Chairman Johnny Fernando highlighted the importance of international exposure for local businesses. He noted that global networking opportunities and cross-border knowledge exchange are essential for Sri Lankan companies seeking to scale their operations and remain competitive in the rapidly evolving global marketplace.
BIMT Campus Chairman Hemakumara Gunasekera emphasized the importance of combining academic knowledge with real-world corporate practices, stating that the programme bridges the gap between traditional management education and the high-efficiency operational models required in today’s dynamic business environment.
Meanwhile, BIMT Campus CEO Farshath Jamal expressed enthusiasm about the immersive nature of the programme, noting that participants will not only learn theoretical concepts but also witness the practical application of successful business strategies in leading Japanese corporations.
Adding further value to the programme, BIMT Vice President Dr. Chethana Dabare highlighted the collaboration with Japanese training and consultancy firm DXTICS, which brings world-renowned experts including Professor Ushio Sumita, a global authority on the Toyota Production System and Professor Emeritus at the University of Tsukuba, and Dr. Jay Rajasekera, Acting CEO of DXTICS and an innovator in undersea fiber-optic technology.
JEI Project Consultant Abdul Careem explained that the programme is designed to help participants develop a customized transformation roadmap that can be implemented within their organizations upon returning to Sri Lanka.
In today’s volatile global business environment, shaped by geopolitical disruptions and rapid technological change, the programme aims to equip Sri Lankan business leaders with the knowledge and strategies required to build resilient, efficient, and globally competitive organizations.
