HILTON COLOMBO

- Hilton Colombo to radically transform guest experience with Rs. 1.94 billion room refurbishment
Colombo, Sri Lanka, 2021 – S&T Interiors – a joint venture of the Hayleys Group and S&T Oman, announced the commencement of the Rs 1.94 billion 253 guest room refurbishment project for the Hilton Colombo. The fifteen [15] month project is expected to be completed in four [04] phases, with minimal disruption to hotel operations and will be the first major guest-room interior refurbishment since 1984.
Hilton Hotels Corporation is recognized internationally as a preeminent hospitality company, where in Sri Lanka the Hilton Colombo is known as a pioneer of the hospitality industry. The interior upgrade by equally renowned S&T Interiors is expected to elevate the hotel standards to that of international hospitality standards.
The refurbishment by S&T Interiors will consist of civil, interior fit-out and MEP work for the 253 guest rooms. The renovation is due to be completed by late 2022 and will provide visitors with a completely new and upgraded stay, in-line with the international standards set within the luxury segment of Hilton hotel brand.
Speaking with S&T Interiors, Head of Strategy & Finance – Chinthaka Jayathilaka noted: “We are pleased to have been awarded this refurbishment project. Whilst the main challenges are to ensure the refurb of the 253-guest rooms do not disrupt hotel operations, we are also quite mindful of the volatility of the economy and regulations in place that could disrupt the process. The refurbishment has been commissioned at the right time, as with the current low occupancy rates – allowing for more convenient preparation and work on the property for the future.”
Concluding, Chief Operating Officer, Hotel Developers Lanka (PLC) – Shamahil Mohideen stated: “We are pleased to have partnered with S&T Interiors for the refurbishment of our 253 room inventory at the Hilton Colombo through a competitive bidding process. The renowned interior fit-out contracting company stood out during the competitive bidding process due to their international expertise and global network, in particular their in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Hilton brand, its visual and hotel standards as well as the brand ethos that when executed correctly, can be brought to life through every aspect of the property.”
