Handling of last year’s first wave was good, even though the people suffered hardships and businesses underwent shock treatment. But this new wave has not been handled to my satisfaction at all. There are too many guidelines and they have not reached the people, so how can they be followed properly? I think there are too many authorities telling us what to do. There are also many contradictions. For example, we are told not to have parties, but weddings are permitted! Opening our borders to tourism is also a risky move. We should by now have started vaccinating the people and then only open up the country.
The response, how the first wave and the ongoing second wave is handled and the strategies and transparency are all in doubt. This is the responsibility of the government and regulatory authorities. When considering the response of a country, the responsibility of the public also needs to be considered. Yet a sizeable portion of people take this too lightly, act irresponsibly, do not feel its gravity, wear the mask the wrong way, just for the sake of wearing a mask. And then there are forces who always turn a blind eye to ‘rule breakers’.
One person can ruin the whole setup towards progress and recovery.
So in such a scenario, the overall response is not satisfactory.
