Belgian entrepreneur and Chairman of Sail Lanka Charter Pierre Pringiers has promised a goodwill luxury cruise between India and Sri Lanka by the end of 2019 to “reestablish  the link between Talaimannar and Rameswaram.”

His vision is to create a sector that has the capacity to build 500 to 600 super luxury yachts that will attract more tourists. He plans to expand and develop this luxury boat building sector in the north which, according to him “is virgin territory and not attracting many tourists.”

A training centre in Poonakary – to train people in boat building and manufacturing – will be the first step towards this goal. Building super luxury yachts is expected to not only cost far less than importing them but attract many foreign investors as well.
