FLEXIPRINT
Q: If there is one aspect that you could pinpoint as making Flexiprint the company that it is today, what would it be?
A: As a company primarily serving the tea industry with tea bag tags, envelopes, pyramid mesh bags with tags and other industry requirements (labels and stickers) both locally and internationally, Flexiprint’s success is the result of multiple factors.
However, the key aspect that has played a crucial role in our development is our customer-centric approach. Looking after our customers is our primary goal, followed by maintaining a strong focus on the local and international markets, and a deep understanding of market dynamics. This is complemented by other important factors such as quality products and services, competitive pricing, efficient logistics and strong business relationships.
This holistic approach is the key to our long-term success in the global marketplace and what has enabled us to be the best at what we do.
Q: As a renowned supplier to local and global markets, what recent accolades substantiate the company’s position as a market leader?
A: We are delighted to have won the coveted National Bronze and Top 10 awards in the national level ‘Extra Large’ category for the manufacturing sector at the CNCI Achiever Awards for Industrial Excellence 2023 organised by the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI).
At the National Print Awards 2023, we also won two Gold and two Silver awards in the categories of ‘Paperboard Labels and Tags,’ and ‘Non-Paperboard Labels and Tags,’ which are our prime products.
Flexiprint’s sister company Print USA also bagged five awards in recognition of being the best in offset printed packaging services.
We consider it a privilege and honour to be recognised as one of Sri Lanka’s leading manufacturers, supporting many local and export industries – including by taking pure Ceylon Tea to key international markets. Our customer network spans Dubai, Russia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kenya, India, Australia and New Zealand, where we deliver high quality products in a timely manner.
I would like to convey my heartfelt gratitude to our prestigious clientele, and well-trained and skilled workforce, who have made our success a reality.
Furthermore, we hope this victory will instil confidence within our existing and potential customers. We believe that being recognised for our service and product quality provides our customers with assurances that they are making the right choice in selecting Flexiprint as their printing partner.
These awards also play a significant role in enabling us to strive for betterment especially in the face of economic turmoil. Specifically, they can have a positive impact on recognition and motivation, innovation and continuous improvement, credibility and trust. Most importantly, they serve as a benchmark for excellence.
Moreover, the recognition we received from CNCI, which is the pioneering chamber for industries in Sri Lanka, and the Sri Lanka Association of Printers, the country’s printing fraternity, serves as a catalyst for improvement and testimony to Flexiprint’s commitment to excellence, which is a hallmark of market leadership.
The reason for our success during this challenging economic time has been a combination of factors including strategic planning, cost management, adaptability and most of all, the focus on delivering value to our prestigious customers.
Q: What challenges has Flexiprint faced amidst the economic crisis in Sri Lanka – and how has the organisation overcome them?
A: Sri Lanka has faced economic challenges including high inflation, currency depreciation and a large debt burden. Companies operating in such an environment have struggled with rising costs and uncertainty. We are no exception.
However, owing to our good reputation, financially stable customer portfolio and strategic decision making, we have been well geared to face any financial turmoil. To address domestic economic instability, we considered diversifying our markets and services, managing costs more efficiently and exploring more export opportunities.
The economic instability also affected consumer demand, leading to sales fluctuations. To counter this, we adjusted our service offering, marketing strategies and pricing models to remain responsive to changing consumer demand.
We also entered different industries with Flexilabels under the wings of Flexiprint, which supplies self-adhesive labels to many sectors and industries including fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), pharma, apparel, distilleries, food and beverage (F&B), motor and supermarkets.
With the ongoing brain drain in Sri Lanka, most companies have also faced talent shortages. We’ve invested in training and development programmes to upskill our existing workforce, and offer competitive compensation and benefits to attract and retain talent.
I believe that we are resilient, agile and capable of adapting to changing conditions. Therefore, we’re better positioned to thrive in this challenging economic environment.
