e-GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT –A NEEDED SYSTEM CHANGE FOR ECONOMIC STABILITY
Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) is not a new phenomenon to the world. Countries like Canada, USA and Singapore started e-GP in 90’s while India and Bangladesh started it a decade ago.
The e-GP is to facilitate highly secured electronic tendering process which strictly adhering to Government tender process. Hence, no one will be able to violate the Government tender process and it leads to many benefits.
e-GP had reduced corruption of many Governments across the world and it had increased the transparency, efficiency, value for money and most importantly the accountability of public servants.
Sri Lanka will soon implement e-GP across all Government Entities. Asian Development Bank and World Bank is supporting the development and implementation of e-GP in Sri Lanka. Entire population of the country will benefit in many avenues while the business community specially the SME sector will benefit most.

Already there are more than 2000 vendors registered and system has planned to cater up to 500,000 vendors. The vendor registration is now open.
