DSI
LEADING IN SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING
In today’s global market where sustainability and ethical governance are critical to business success, Samson International stands as a benchmark for responsible manufacturing.
A proud member of the DSI Samson Group, the company has consistently integrated eco-conscious practices and ethical values across its operations, setting new standards in Sri Lanka’s industrial landscape.
From its founding in October 1988, Samson International pursued a clear vision: to elevate the rubber industry on the global stage while honouring a deep commitment to environmental stewardship, fair labour practices and long-term sustainability.
Over the past three and a half decades, this philosophy has shaped the company’s growth into it becoming one of the leading manufacturers and exporters of moulded and extruded rubber products.
At the heart of Samson International’s operations lies its unwavering commitment to the triple bottom line – people, planet and profit. The company’s environmental strategy includes a robust waste management system that keeps rubber and PVC production waste below three percent.
A large portion of this is recycled into reclaimed rubber or channelled into non-pressure PVC applications, reducing landfill impact and conserving resources. Solid waste is segregated responsibly, and both water discharge and noise emissions are managed in full compliance with local environmental regulations.
In a decisive move towards clean energy, Samson International recently completed a 3,400 square metre rooftop solar installation at its Galle facility. This system generates an estimated 85,611 kWh of renewable energy monthly, substantially cutting the company’s reliance on fossil fuels.
Additionally, Samson has transitioned from furnace oil boilers to biomass boilers, allowing nearly two-thirds of its total energy requirement to be met through renewable sources. These innovations not only reduce the company’s environmental footprint but also contribute to energy resilience and cost efficiency.
The company’s commitment to ethical practices is evident throughout its supply chain and labour policies. Samson International is a recognised producer of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) and Fair Rubber certified products including yoga mats and hot water bottles, assuring customers that raw materials are sourced responsibly, and manufacturing processes uphold stringent environmental and social standards.
As part of this broader ethical vision, the company has earned recognition from respected institutions. Most recently, Samson International was awarded the Certificate of Ethical Trading by the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE). This prestigious certification based on eight core principles of good governance, affirms the company’s compliance with labour laws, fair trading practices and environmental regulations.
Samson International was also the first rubber product manufacturer in Sri Lanka to obtain ISO 9001 certification, reinforcing its dedication to quality management.
Today, the company maintains a wide range of internationally recognised certifications including ISO 14001 for environmental management, ISO 50001 for energy efficiency and Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) for social compliance.
These benchmarks offer buyers and partners worldwide a high degree of confidence in Samson’s responsible production processes.
As environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) factors take centre stage in global procurement decisions, Samson International’s proactive approach positions it as a trusted and future ready partner in the international supply chain. The company’s global reach spans over 30 countries.
This commitment to sustainable growth is deeply shared across the DSI Samson Group, one of Sri Lanka’s largest and most diversified conglomerates. With over 30 subsidiaries across industries and sectors such as footwear, rubber, textiles and renewable energy, the group champions innovation and ethical progress.
All companies under the DSI Samson umbrella are aligning with sustainability goals – from reducing emissions and investing in solar power to promoting circular economy principles and ethical labour.
In line with its vision for inclusive development, Samson International is also investing in local community engagement initiatives aimed at skills development, education and economic empowerment.
Through structured CSR programmes, the company supports surrounding communities with employment opportunities, vocational training and educational scholarships.
These programmes not only uplift rural livelihoods but also reinforce Samson’s role as a socially responsible corporate citizen. By combining sustainability with social equity, Samson ensures that its growth remains inclusive and impactful, reaching beyond the factory floor into the lives of everyday Sri Lankans.
By embedding sustainability and ethics into every layer of its business, Samson International and the DSI Samson Group exemplify the future of responsible manufacturing.
