Colombo, 16 December 2023 - A design heritage built on three generations of history and legacy and many a story to tell - Colombo Jewellery Stores unveiled three spectacular jewellery collections for the Christmas season using its century-old formula of passion, design, craftsmanship, quality and an eye for pizzazz! Intertwining the CJS one hundred year history and heritage into signature designs with an underlying theme of conservation and sustainability, the CJS Heritage Store at No. 1 Alfred House Gardens, Colombo 3, revealed three new collections founded on sophistication, elegance and just the right dose of chic and modernity, embracing luxurious glam with a tale to tell.

Cascading across the three floors of the Store, the Signature Floor revealed all that Santa would deem, “Everything nice” – a sparkling array of diamonds, sapphires, rubies and emeralds. Echoing the colours of the season, each piece is set in the most decadent of designs to catch the eye, warm the heart and add sparkle to the soul. “It’s about the season,” says Chairman Akram Cassim, “and the season is all about glam and sophistication with that modern twist which we like to add in every collection.”

Also taking centerstage this season, is CJS’ unwavering commitment to eco-conservation and in particular Sri Lanka’s apex predator - the Sri Lankan leopard. A stunning limited edition leopard pendant designed exclusively by CJS marks the 130 year anniversary of the Wildlife & Nature Protection Society as well as a long standing collaboration CJS has had with the WNPS. 130 handcrafted limited edition iconic leopard pendants priced at LKR 17,500 is a ‘must have’ for the leopard lover with 100% proceeds are directed towards the WNPS’s conservation projects across the country.

Added Cassim: “We have continuously partnered WNPS for several years knowing how vital conservation is to Sri Lanka. The CJS values are deeply entrenched in sustaining and preserving our natural world and we are committed to making a meaningful impact, anticipating that these committed projects aimed at conserving our nation’s unique biodiversity will contribute towards a better future for all.”

Always pushing design boundaries to marry its quality, heritage and craftsmanship with a contemporary edge, CJS also revealed a dramatic collaborative collection with Chevonne of Cher&Grace – a range of exquisite elegance and craftsmanship using wood. Adorned with precious gems to exude a sense of panache, each piece narrates a tale of the beauty of nature illuminated with stone-led artistry on wood including wood from the evergreen tree Nadun.

For Cassim this partnership with exceptionally talented jewellery designer Chevonne is about crafting a unique collection. “The collaboration not only narrates the timeless treasures we have but also the commitment we have to innovation and craftsmanship, portrayed in a collection of eco-inspired elegance of wearable artistry.”

Collating a repository of tales through its founding in 1922, CJS has always emerged with spectacularly timeless collections which chronicle the story of heritage, history and legacy combined with a contemporary twist to its tale. These three collections pull out the age-old history of gems into the sparkle of the season rolling out a tapestry of timeless beauty that remains the CJS signature.
