COKE KOTTU BEAT PARTY
Coke Kottu Beat Party Sets Colombo Ablaze with Flavour, Music, and Island Soul
Colombo, Sri Lanka – June 30, 2025 – Galle Face turned into a cultural carnival recently as thousands poured in for the Coke Kottu Beat Party—Coca-Cola Sri Lanka’s electric celebration of food, rhythm, and youthful energy. From the sizzle of hotplates of the local favourite kottu to the pounding of drums, the city’s seafront was transformed into a bold showcase of Sri Lankan flavour and flair.
This year’s Colombo edition followed the sensational success of the events last year, which drew in thousands from across the island. Together, these events continue Coca Cola’s mission to blend culture and community through Sri Lanka’s beloved street food—Kottu.
From nostalgic classics to cheesy polos, vegan spice twists, and even dessert kottu, the party reimagined kottu for a new generation. Paired with hoppers, BBQ, burgers, fried rice and, of course, ice-cold Coca-Cola, it was a feast that brought the street to the stage.
The Coke Kottu Battle was a fiery crowd-puller, with 20+ vendors cooking live and battling it out for flavour supremacy. Esteemed judges crowned two winners, each walking away with hefty prize money and island-wide bragging rights.
Adding to the spice was the explosive music lineup: Midlane Band, Wasthi, Dinesh Gamage, Kaizer Kaiz, Umaria, and Kanchana brought down the house with rap, EDM, hip-hop, and local genres. Sounds of baila blended with traditional rhythms, while Naadro impressed with a thrilling percussion act on the mini-stage using empty crates and Coke bottles—celebrating creativity and reuse.
The event was packed with interactive experiences. The mini-stage kept the crowd buzzing with couple games, Coca-Cola drinking competitions, and show-cooking sessions, giving attendees the chance to win branded Coca-Cola merchandise. A raffle draw added more excitement, with three lucky winners walking away with exclusive prizes.
Entry to the event was made extra fun with Coke bottle labels serving as the ticket—putting the product right at the heart of the celebration.
Beyond the music and meals, Coca-Cola’s strong environmental message came through via the ‘Give Back Life’ initiative. A dedicated stall educated visitors on identifying PET plastic and showcased how recycled bottles can become brooms, brushes, yarn, and even shirts. The response was enthusiastic, especially among Gen-Z attendees, reflecting growing eco-awareness. What’s more, the organizers ensured that a thorough clean up was done post-event ensuring that the venue was left spick and span.
With seamless execution, overwhelming crowds, and an unmistakable local heartbeat, the Coke Kottu Beat Party once again proved that Sri Lanka is not just hosting events—it is rewriting how they are done. And with more stops planned islandwide in 2025, the beat goes on.
