CINNAMON LIFE AT CITY OF DREAMS

Protecting Sri Lanka’s Shores – Cinnamon Life’s Beach Care on World Tourism Day

Colombo, Friday 3 October 2025 On World Tourism Day, Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams turned its focus to the heart of Sri Lanka’s beauty—its coastline. In a heartfelt show of commitment to sustainable tourism, the team launched a special “Beach Care” initiativeat Uswetakeiyawa Beach, bringing together associates who share a deep passion for protecting the island’s natural treasures.

With hands, hearts, and teamwork, the volunteers removed over 400 kilograms of plastic and polythene waste, giving this vibrant shoreline a renewed lease of life. A permanent garbage bin was also installed to encourage the local community and beachgoers to play their part in keeping the coast clean, turning one-day’s action into a lasting impact.

Reflecting on the initiative, Sameera Ranasinghe, Director – Sustainability & Compliance, Cinnamon Life, shared: “Tourism can only truly flourish when people and the environment flourish together. For us, this is more than just a clean-up—it’s a promise to safeguard the beauty of our shores so that future generations can experience Sri Lanka as we do today.”

The “Beach Care” project is one of many steps in Cinnamon Life’s broader sustainability journey, which balances unforgettable experiences for guests with the preservation of Sri Lanka’s biodiversity and coastal ecosystems. By empowering associates to be active custodians of the environment, Cinnamon Life is nurturing a culture where responsible tourism becomes second nature.

As Sri Lanka continues to shine as a leading destination in Asia, initiatives like “Beach Care” remind us that the island’s beauty is not just a backdrop for tourism, but that it is a shared responsibility. Protecting it ensures that both visitors and locals will always find wonder on Sri Lanka’s shores.
