The Bank of Ceylon Steps up to assist Children with Cardiac complexities by joining the “Little Hearts” Project.

In response to the urgent need of building a Cardiac and Critical Care Complex at the Lady Ridgeway hospital centre for children, the Bank of Ceylon together with Sri Lanka College of Pediatricians is set to build a Cardiac and Critical Care complex at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital Centre for Children in need. The MoU with regard to this project was signed between the Bank and the “Little Hearts” Project by CEO/ General Manager Mr. Senarath Bandara and President of Sri Lanka College of Pediatricians Dr. Rajaratnam Ajanthan recently at the Bank of Ceylon’s Head Office. Accordingly, the Bank of Ceylon will be the official banking partner for this project to promote this worthy cause.

In relation to this cause the Staff of the Bank of Ceylon had already donated a day’s pay collectively a sum of Rs. 7 Million to be credited to the “Little Hearts Project” account with the Bank. BOC, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, engages in projects such as this in order to financially assist livelihood development  in the country. By actively engaging in the project, the Bank looks forward to assisting the “Little Hearts” fund to grow up to its financial target- Rs. 2 Billion and maintaining the collection account bearing no. 79738633 on behalf of the project. In this regard BOC will also assist the awareness campaign and get its customers involved to raise funds for this worthy cause. In recognition of those who contribute for this project, it has been arranged to have a certificate handed over by the “Little Hearts Project” for every donation of Rs. 10,000/- or above to the said account 79738633.

The aim of the “Little Heart” project is to build a twelve story Cardiac and Critical Care Complex attached to Lady Ridgeway Hospital as a state-of-the-art special treatment centre for children with heart diseases and critical illnesses. Once it is built, the hospital will feature cardiac operating theatres, 40 ICU beds, over 100 medical and neonatal intensive care beds, areas for advanced cardiac investigations and staff training facilities to provide optimum care for child patients.
