BEAMS OF LIGHT ART EXHIBITION

The Exhibition “Beams of Light” was an uncurated artistic dialogue between three women artists with disparate styles:  Ridee Kurutu, Thilini De Simon and Dinusha T. Jayawardene that was held on 7th and 8th of March 2026 in Jayanthipura, Battaramulla, Sri Lanka.

The interplay and juxtaposition of three artists’ work weaved a diverse presentation of varying mediums and themes and offered a broader look at contemporary art trends within a single space.

Together, Ridee Kurutu, Thilini and Dinusha  created a visual space where imagination, a full spectrum of emotions, introspection and memory breathed in unison.

In this visual space, not only were viewers subtly transformed into active, immersed participants, but they were also provided the much-needed pause from fast-paced contemporary life.

More importantly,” Beams of Light” epitomized  artists’ collaborative effort to maintain their individual identities while celebrating creative freedom within the visual space they created together.

This group exhibition was not only  testament to the camaraderie that is prevalent in the industry , but also evidence of the freedom & flexibility that comes with  converting first spaces into third spaces  purely for the artistic pursuit, which is truly a great way to encourage artists and enhance their visibility.

“Beams of Light”, as the name suggests, spread ‘light’ & created numerous ripples in celebrating and appreciating women and their work. The proceeds from the sale of artworks by  Dinusha T. Jayawardene will  be channeled to the ongoing project  that empowers peers  / caregivers in families with peers on the mental health recovery journey with self-employment opportunities in areas/ Districts in Sri Lanka.
