In celebration of the upcoming Vesak festival, the Bank of Ceylon hosted a pilgrimage to Sacred Relics at its head office premises. This significant event was graced by the presence of the Bank’s Chairman, General Manager/CEO, Corporate and Executive management with staff members, alongside a large number of devotees who came to worship the holy relics with sincere devotion.

The Sacred Relic pilgrimage  was organised by the United Buddhist Association of the Bank of Ceylon as part of the ‘Dharma Shakthi Pooja Vesak Programme.’ This programme is a collaborative effort between the General Conference for the Preservation of National Heritage with the Bank of Ceylon, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.

Launched in 2019, the ‘Dharma Shakthi Pooja Vesak Programme’ began its journey in Kilinochchi, followed by Jaffna in 2022, and Trincomalee in 2023. This year, the unique Vesak observance is being held in Batticaloa with enthusiastic support and participation from both the Buddhist and non-Buddhist communities in the region.

The Bank of Ceylon join hands with this charitable event, including providing transportation for the holy relics in a specially designed vehicle known as the Ransivi house. Staff members from the Bank’s North Central, Eastern, and Western Provinces have actively supported and ensured the success of this programme.
