Amana Bank’s Marshad Barry appointed as President of Sri Lanka Malaysia Business Council
Amana Bank is delighted on the appointment of Marshad Barry to the Sri Lanka Malaysia Business Council (SLMBC) as its President for the year 2024/2025. The announcement was made during the 30th Annual General Meeting of the SLMBC, which took place at the Union Ballroom, Hilton Residence, with the High Commissioner of Malaysia in Sri Lanka, His Excellency Badli Hisham Adam gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. The SLMBC functions under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
Marshad Barry, currently serving as the Deputy Head of OrphanCare at Amana Bank, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to this new role. Prior to his appointment as President, Marshad had served three consecutive years as the Vice President and Executive Committee Member of the SLMBC, demonstrating the commitment to fostering strong business ties between Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
Apart from his professional endeavors, Marshad Barry has actively contributed to various organizations. He previously held the position of Assistant Governor of Rotary District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives and currently serves as the Public Image Chair for Rotary Sri Lanka and Maldives. He also holds the position of Secretary of the Colombo University Journalism Organization and International Secretary of the Asian Media Culture Association. Furthermore, Marshad is a Director of the Centre for Islamic Studies (CIS) and Chairman of Foreign Relations & Youth Affairs of Moors Islamic Cultural Home (MICH). As the Deputy Head of OrphanCare, Marshad oversees the impact and effectiveness of this unique programme, which focuses on avoiding a second abandonment at the age of 18 for orphans when they are forced to leave their care homes and empowering them towards leading fulfilling lives.
