Alumex PLC and ISMM Forge Alliance to Shape the Future of Supply Chain Management

Alumex PLC partnered with the Institute of Supply and Materials Management (ISMM) signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently.

Alumex PLC, Sri Lanka’s premier manufacturer of aluminium extrusion products, has reaffirmed its commitment to driving excellence in supply chain management by partnering with the Institute of Supply and Materials Management (ISMM). This strategic collaboration was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed recently by Pramuk Dediwela, Managing Director, Alumex PLC, alongside key industry leaders including Jayantha Gallehewa, President, ISMM, and senior representatives from Unilever Sri Lanka, Nestlé Lanka, Hayleys Advantis, Hemas Manufacturing and Ceylon Agro Industries (Prima Group). The event was also attended by ISMM’s leadership team and distinguished officials from partner organisations, marking a significant step in strengthening Sri Lanka’s supply chain industry.

As a leading player in Sri Lanka’s manufacturing sector, Alumex recognises the crucial role of an efficient and well-equipped supply chain in driving industrial growth and sustainability. This partnership with ISMM underscores Alumex’s ongoing efforts to foster industry-academia collaboration, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical expertise. Through this initiative, Alumex will actively contribute to sustainable industry-academic partnerships that align with the evolving needs of both academia and industry.

Under the terms of the MoU, ISMM will award institutional membership to Alumex while the company will provide priority access for ISMM students, offering internships and job placements to help them gain hands-on experience in supply chain management within Alumex’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. It will also facilitate customised training programmes at preferential rates, empowering supply chain professionals with cutting-edge industry knowledge. Industry exposure for ISMM students will also be enhanced through field visits to Alumex’s production and supply chain facilities, providing them with in-depth insights into operational best practices.

Speaking on the occasion, Pramuk Dediwela, Managing Director of Alumex PLC, stated: “At Alumex, we believe that a strong and resilient supply chain is fundamental to the success of the manufacturing sector. By partnering with ISMM, we are investing in the future of Sri Lanka’s supply chain industry while nurturing the next generation of professionals who will drive innovation and operational efficiency. This partnership is an important milestone for Alumex PLC as we continue to integrate knowledge-sharing and industry exposure into our operational framework.”

Jayantha Gallehewa, President of ISMM added, “This partnership marks a significant milestone in our mission to develop world-class supply chain professionals who will drive Sri Lanka’s supply chain sector toward global competitiveness. By joining forces with leading supply chain and manufacturing organisations, we ensure that our students and professionals are well-prepared for the evolving demands of the industry.”

By actively engaging in industry-academic collaborations, Alumex PLC continues to reinforce its leadership position in Sri Lanka’s manufacturing landscape while contributing to the nation’s economic and industrial growth.
