SURGE IS POWERING THE FUTURE OF RETAIL WITH SURGE CLOUD

Bhanuka Harischandra, Surge Global

Surge Global Founder and CEO Bhanuka Harischandra presented Surge Cloud to Sri Lanka’s apparel industry at SLABA Fashion Forward 2026. Surge Cloud is an ERP that runs retail, e-commerce and HR on one platform, with payments built in.

Shoppers are ready to buy online. Most systems are not ready to serve them. ODI Global’s 2026 survey of 953 Sri Lankan exporters and importers found 70% of exporters sell online. Ninety percent still get paid by bank transfer. Separately, 72% of online orders are paid cash on delivery, according to SLASSCOM and Daraz (2023).

Surge Cloud covers accounting, invoicing, tax and VAT, reconciliation, stock, buying, point of sale, online store and HR and payroll. Stock counts update across every outlet and the web shop, so brands do not oversell. The overall platform processes more than 750,000 transactions over. 6.5 billion a month through Payable’s merchant base. Brands go live in weeks, not the 4 to 12 months typical of ERP projects. Setup is currently free, and onboarding is included.

Payments sit inside the same system. More than 40,000 merchants already use Surge payments. Card transactions on Surge are growing 35% a year. Click to Pay, coming soon, lets shoppers pay with a mobile number instead of card details. Surge reports up to 30% higher checkout conversion.

Delivery and marketing are next. Surge Dispatch, coming soon, will pick ride hailing, third-party drivers or fleets for each order, targeting delivery in about 30 minutes. Of online exporters’ orders, 76% currently take more than two weeks to arrive.

Manufacturers get a tool at the machine. Needle Eye, from Surge Robotics, uses a camera on the needle to flag skipped stitches, broken threads, tension faults and puckering as they happen. A light and buzzer alert the operator before the next panel is sewn. Each garment’s stitch record links to style, batch and operator, and saves to the ERP.

“Sri Lankan apparel brands already sell online. What they lack is one system that connects the shop floor, the till and the checkout. Surge Cloud is that system.” Bhanuka Harischandra – Founder & CEO Surge Global
