DB AUTOMATION

Sri Lankan businesses – whether small or large – are increasingly embracing technology to drive smoother, smarter operations

Q: What was the vision behind establishing the Zebra Experience Centre and how does it differentiate DB Automation from others in the sector?

A: Our vision was to create a hands-on space where customers can experience Zebra’s technology in real world applications. The Experience Centre is not your typical showroom but functions as a learning and innovation hub.

This initiative sets DB Automation apart by enabling us to offer tailored, sector specific solutions rather than merely selling products. It reflects our commitment to adding real value and reinforces our position as Zebra’s premier solution partner in Sri Lanka.

Q: What are some key technologies and solutions featured at the Zebra Experience Centre and what type of experience can a visitor look forward to when exploring the space?

A: The Experience Centre features live demonstrations of Zebra’s latest innovations, carefully tailored for key sectors such as retail, manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and warehousing.

Technologies on display include AI powered shelf monitoring, radio frequency identification (RFID) based inventory management, vision based quality control, mobile healthcare solutions and fully automated warehouse tracking systems.

Healthcare solutions such as wristbands are showcased to demonstrate their role in ensuring accurate patient identification and bedside medication administration, enhancing safety and efficiency in clinical settings.

A standout highlight is our RFID bucket POS system. This enables fast, frictionless retail checkout and offers visitors a firsthand look at how automation can streamline workflows and transform day-to-day business operations.

Q: How has your partnership with Zebra Technologies evolved over the years and what does it mean for your clients in Sri Lanka?

A: Our partnership with Zebra Technologies spans over 15 years and has evolved into a robust alliance – both product driven and solutions focussed.

DB Automation is proud to be Zebra’s largest and most trusted partner in Sri Lanka. We have also been recognised as partner of the year on four occasions within the last five years at Zebra’s partner summits – a reflection of the strength and consistency of our collaboration.

This longstanding collaboration allows us to offer the full spectrum of Zebra’s technologies to our customers. We also offer unmatched, comprehensive after sales support – including readily available spare parts and accessories – ensuring our clients benefit from reliable, end-to-end services tailored to their business needs.

Q: What are some examples of how Zebra’s RFID solutions are transforming operations in sectors such as logistics, retail and manufacturing here in Sri Lanka?

A: Zebra’s RFID solutions play a vital role in transforming operations across multiple sectors in Sri Lanka.

In logistics, businesses use RFID to gain real-time visibility of goods throughout the supply chain – improving traceability, reducing manual errors and enhancing efficiency.

In retail meanwhile, solutions such as our RFID bucket POS system not only enable faster, frictionless checkouts but also enhance inventory accuracy, and support better stock control and timely replenishment.

In manufacturing, radio frequency identification is used for tracking of parts and production line monitoring – streamlining workflows and minimising downtime.

Overall, RFID is becoming an essential tool for businesses looking to manage inventory more efficiently, reduce losses and make data driven decisions.

Q: How will the Zebra Experience Centre play a role in shaping the future of automation and smart operations for Sri Lankan businesses?

A: Sri Lankan businesses – whether small or large – are increasingly embracing technology to drive smoother, smarter operations. The experience centre supports this shift by offering a hands-on space to explore real world automation solutions.

With the government’s ongoing digitalisation efforts, we believe DB Automation can play an integral role in supporting both the private and public sectors in their journey towards smarter, tech enabled transformation.

Q: With over two decades of experience, how has DB Automation evolved in response to changes in technology and market demands over the years?

A: The CEO of DB Automation Najeeb Deen founded the company as a modest label production operation to support the labelling needs of our parent company DBL.

Over time, and with a clear vision and a deep understanding of market trends, we have transformed into one of Sri Lanka’s leading automation solution providers. From offering basic label solutions, we’ve evolved into a technology driven company delivering end-to-end products, enterprise solutions and services.

Today, through strong global partnerships such as Zebra Technologies and platforms including the Zebra Experience Centre, we continue to lead the way in helping businesses adapt to a rapidly advancing digital landscape.
