Q: How did Singhagiri navigate the recent challenging times?

A: Navigating operations during the COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis presented numerous challenges. Many situations were beyond our control, making it difficult to sustain the normal course of business.

As an enterprise that imports products and provides after sales services, we faced temporary restrictions on imports since June last year, impacting the availability of spare parts and finished products. Despite these obstacles, we prioritised after sales services to ensure customer satisfaction.

However, concerns linger regarding maintaining the same level of standards as those prior to the Easter attacks of 2019. As an organisation in the consumer electronics retail industry that’s heavily reliant on imports, we had to adapt by collaborating with local manufacturers for smaller scale products.

Q: In crises, how important is it for businesses to uphold corporate respect?

A: We were hopeful about recovering from the pandemic but the economic crisis posed additional challenges. Singhagiri recognised its responsibility to all stakeholders, diligently assessed the situation and aligned itself with the changing environment to provide the best possible support.

For our employees, we prioritised maintaining trust and transparency, ensuring open communication channels. Singhagiri’s senior management team, with deeply ingrained corporate values, worked to understand and sustain the business amidst these challenges. Effective communication played a vital role in conveying our path forward to stakeholders.

When consumers express interest in purchasing products, we are transparent about the availability of parts and the standards associated with them. Such measures are implemented to uphold fairness and avoid undue advantages. Due to these principles, both employees and consumers stood by Singhagiri in difficult times.

Q: In the uncertain business environment today, how challenging is it to earn and maintain corporate respect?

A: The economic crisis had a significant impact on our business and employees. However, we were resolute in our commitment to avoid burdening stakeholders. The foreign exchange crisis, coupled with financial costs and net profit challenges, added to the difficulties we faced.

Safeguarding the interests of our stakeholders became a top priority. We forged partnerships with local businesses to cater to specific product demands, earning us respect in the industry. Throughout this endeavour, we remained mindful of affordability, ensuring that our offerings remained accessible to consumers.

Q: How does respect in workplaces nurture admiration for organisations to be employers of choice?

A: At Singhagiri, we place great importance on fostering a culture built on mutual trust and respect. We strongly believe in empowering employees to advance in their personal careers while promoting diversity in the workplace. Our commitment to an open culture allows employees to express their views and make suggestions, which we value and consider seriously.

We also have a grievance handling process in place to ensure that employee concerns are addressed promptly and fairly. By recognising and respecting our employees, and actively engaging them in business operations, we inspire and motivate them to perform at their best.

Q: What are the main attributes of your corporate image?

A: Trust, loyalty and consistency are fundamental values. Stakeholders expect organisations to uphold these principles by doing what is right, demonstrating loyalty and ensuring consistency across all processes.

In the present volatile situation, maintaining consistency becomes a major challenge. At Singhagiri however, we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards in all our products and services.

Singhagiri upholds respect in trying times, prioritising trust, loyalty and consistency. It is committed to quality products and services, collaborating with local partners and embracing technology for enhanced customer experiences. By fostering workplace respect, it gained admiration as an employer of choice.
