How the ‘Most Awarded’ entities are ranked
“Our research identified 496 award-winning corporate entities – more than double the 227 featured in the previous edition – collectively securing 2,831 awards”
LMD completed its fifth year of research to rank Sri Lanka’s ‘Most Awarded’ entities. This analysis highlights the accolades earned by the country’s leading business establishments.
Our study involves the compilation of a comprehensive list of entities based on LMD’s 2024 special editions – viz. Brands Annual, Most Respected, Corporate Life (which includes the Corporate Happiness Index or CHI and Best Workplaces in Sri Lanka) and LMD 100 (2023/24).
Our research identified 496 award-winning corporate entities – more than double the 227 featured in the previous edition – collectively securing 2,831 awards.
In the next phase of our research, award details were sourced and verified. Companies on the preliminary list were invited to submit information regarding the awards they won in calendar year 2024 (i.e. from 1 January to 31 December) to ensure completeness and accuracy of the rankings.
Certain limitations were applied to ensure that the focus remained on business related accolades. To this end, individual awards and accolades were excluded, along with certifications and standards. Furthermore, certain LMD sub rankings (e.g. Most Respected and Corporate Life attributes, and the LMD 100 second board) were not considered. Sole agents and franchise holders were excluded from this list too.
Additionally, awards won by multinational entities based overseas and subsidiaries of holding companies were not factored into the rankings. This exclusion extended to hotels, which were treated as subsidiaries.
Non-business related awards (for example, those recognising achievements in sports or the arts) were not included. In addition, intragroup awards (chairman’s awards, for example) were also excluded.
