Sydney Stock Exchange (SSX) and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) recently entered into an agreement to explore the possibility of cross listing and trading stocks and bonds to create new links between Australian and Sri Lankan businesses and capital markets.

The CSE is recognised as having great potential to be one of the most attractive capital markets in the region and is actively engaged in attracting foreign investment from across the globe.

While Sri Lanka has remained an important trading partner for Australia, the latest venture is expected to further cement the relationship between the two nations. It is also expected to provide and develop specialised markets in sectors including natural resources, oil and gas, real estate, technology, agribusiness and services. Several road shows are being conducted in Australia to attract foreign investors into the market.
