Browns Hotels & Resorts rings in Christmas season with a cake mixing ceremony at Club Hotel Dolphin

The annual cake mixing ceremony was held at Club Hotel Dolphin to mark the beginning of the festive season. Cake Mixing is traditionally done to celebrate the advent of Christmas and the start of winter festivities and is also considered to usher in good tidings and happiness.

Both hotel staff and guests rolled up their sleeves and participated in a hearty mixing of dry fruits and nuts for plum cakes with spirits. Apart from staff and senior executives of the hotel chain, representatives from international tour operators and leading travel agents too were present. The cake mixing ceremony was headed by the hotel’s very own Executive Chef, Suranga Gunasekera. Amid preparations, Eksath Wijeratne, Group General Manager of Browns Hotels & Resorts said, “Cake mixing is an age-old tradition dating back to the 17th century in Europe and we are very excited to be hosting this unique cake mixing ceremony right here with Waikkal – a region in the island that celebrates Christmas on a larger scale.”

The cake mixing began with handing over the aprons, gloves, masks and chefs hats to the guests. This was followed by the chefs, other staff of the hotel and guests coming together to mix the ingredients. The process began with adding the fruits and nuts to a larger-than-life-container and pouring in the spirits. The mixture was then tossed and turned till it was drenched. The event was followed by cocktails and scrumptious international street food to celebrate the festivities with live music and dance performances.
