A meeting was recently held between Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union Sumith Dassanayake and Director of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for Africa Yumiko Yokozeki.

One of the topics of discussion was the enhancement of cultural and tourism cooperation between Sri Lanka and African countries. An avenue put forward by Dassanayake was an agreement between Sri Lanka and the African Union under UNESCO guidance.

In addition to this, the possibility of Sri Lanka providing assistance in the capacity building of the tourism industry in Africa was also discussed.
