The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) marked International Women’s Day with the release of its report aimed at empowering women in the informal sector through recommendations to state institutions.

Views and proposals offered by women in informal economic fields, and other representatives of public and civil organisations are also included in the report, which is compiled based on round table discussions held at HRCSL’s offices last year.

The commission – which aims to achieve the improvement of women in informal economic fields – stated that the implementation of the recommendations would be monitored and that it had the authority to investigate any complaints regarding the infringement of its recommendations.
