Sri Lanka has moved up by 11 spots to be ranked 100th in the World Bank’s Doing Business 2019 index released last week. The index is an indicator for foreign direct investors looking to invest in a country. It ranks the investment climates of 190 countries, taking into account 16 different criteria.

According to Daraz.lk Country Manager Bart van Dijk, “starting and continuing business in Sri Lanka is much easier than most other South Asian countries.”

Meanwhile, Shippers’ Academy Colombo CEO Rohan Masakorala has attributed the jump in Sri Lanka’s ranking to the hard work and commitment of both the public and private sector, while adding that more must be done to enter Sri Lanka into the top 50 countries for doing business.
