A programme has been launched by the Export Development Board (EDB) to groom 2,000 entrepreneurs to enter the global export market.

Named the ‘2000 Exporter Programme,’ the initiative will be launched on 23 March in the north, 7 April in Galle, 27 April in Kandy and 5 May in Batticaloa.

Several sectors have been identified as high-potential for exports including lifestyle, fishery products, processed food and ICT. The EDB is targeting an export income of US$ 15 billion this year, which reflects marginal growth from US$ 11.8 billion by the end of last year.
