Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said the easing of visa requirements for tourists is an important step in boosting Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. This would entail streamlining the basic requirements of entry into the country including entry procedures at the airport.

Addressing the Hotel Show Colombo 2018, the prime minister stated: “We are looking at how we can ease the whole air trafficking system including the visa service.”

He also stressed the importance of increasing the number of tourists visiting as the industry serves as a job creator.

The need for marketing and promotion was also highlighted by the PM as international competition requires expansion of the local industry.
