Inauguration of the Academic Year 2022 & Seventh Anniversary of Pope Francis’ Visit to BCI Campus

The Benedict XVI Catholic Institute of Higher Education (BCI Campus), Negombo held the Inauguration of the Academic Year 2022 & Seventh Anniversary of Pope Francis’ Visit to BCI Campus on 22nd January.
The inauguration was graced by His Excellency, Most. Rev. Dr. Brian Udaigwe, Apostolic Nuncio to Sri Lanka and His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Archbishop of Colombo. The keynote speech was delivered by renowned conference speaker, corporate trainer, strategy consultant, author and Professor in Management, Professor Ajantha Dharmasiri on “Graduating for the world of work and for fulfilled life”.
In his speech Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri highlighted the importance of being aware of the “new normal” with its associated problems and prospects amidst a planetary pandemic. He referred the reality of VUCA 1.0 (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) and the required response of VUCA 2.0 (vision, understanding, confidence and agility). The required shift from being “ego-centric” to “eco-conscious” where a holistic approach towards a total wellbeing was emphasized as an essential ingredient for a fulfilled life. He further highlighted the need to have physical fitness, mental sharpness, emotional maturity, and spiritual richness which are four key components of a “peak performance pyramid”. The need to have right competence and confidence in contributing to socio-economic upliftment of the country was emphasized.
